Description

Level 103; entrance area.

Level 103 is an interior space near-entirely covered in a thick layer of floral vegetation. The level presents itself as an interconnected web of rooms, which all share a similar architectural structure—namely a square shape, round columns, recessed lighting, and open floor plans. The light on the level originates from both wall and ceiling fixtures—the only parts of the level not fully engulfed in plants. The true scale of the level is unknown, but circumstantial evidence suggests it is finite.

The walls, floors, and ceilings of Level 103 are inundated by an unknown species of scandent vine. The stem of each vine consists of dozens of contiguous corymb1, all bearing vibrant pink, hydrangea-like flowers. First-hand accounts suggest that the plants within the level are in a constant state of bloom. The flowers release a fine particulate that lingers in the air, likely serving as a mechanism for self-pollination, defense, and possibly predation.

There is a dense network of roots comprising the entire floor of the level. This layer is intermingled with a malleable dark red material—often noted as being wet or sticky. Wanderers have reported that the ground beneath the layer of roots feels uneven, jagged, or "crunchy".

Discovery

Level 103; circa ~1987.

Until recently, Level 103 existed as an undocumented, unconfirmed level, only known by a single photograph submitted to the G.P.D. in 1987. The level was finally confirmed in 2025, when the entrance temporarily occupied a supply closet in a New Times Square apartment complex. On the day of the encounter, two children2 entered the supply closet and did not re-emerge. Their babysitter3 entered shortly after in an attempt to locate them but also failed to return. A local TGPF4 office was subsequently contacted, and security officer Nancy Hill was dispatched to investigate. Hill entered the supply closet and was recovered, alone, after almost two hours within Level 103. Her radio transmissions and the video footage she captured are the most substantial documentation of the level.

Radio Operator: George Hanz

Employee: Nancy Hill

Foreword: Security Officer Nancy Hill is responding to the missing person reports originating from the NE Canal St appartment block. As per protocol, radio contact was established during the investigation.

[Begin Log]

Nancy: Come in HQ, this is Security Officer Nancy Hill—can you hear me?

Hanz: Yes, Officer Hill, loud and clear.

Nancy: That you Hanz? I thought you were on the night shift.

Hanz: Had to swap with Phil, he was sick or something.

Nancy: Yeah, sick of working.

[The two share a laugh.]

Nancy: I'm coming up on the closet now, Hanz. Gonna head inside.

Hanz: Copy that.

Nancy: Holy shit—

Hanz: Everything okay?

Nancy: No, yeah… This place is gorgeous.

Hanz: Come again?

Nancy: This closet—well, no, I guess it's not a closet—this level is totally covered in flowers.

Hanz: A new level entrance sounds about right—hopefully those kids didn't wander too far in. Can you still see the exit?

Nancy: Yeah, the door's open—seems stable enough.

[Nancy is heard calling out to the lost kids, several times each.]

Nancy: I don't hear anything yet, I'm gonna go a bit deeper.

Hanz: Sounds good.

Nancy: You ever meet the Ozola's?

Hanz: The kids?

Nancy: Yeah, well, no—the parents. They work down Canal Street at the mess halls.

Hanz: They cooks or something?

Nancy: Managers, something to do with the supply chain—nice folks. Seen the kids around a lot too, cute kids—just a lot of energy.

Hanz: Well, let's hope they didn't get too far.

Nancy: I doubt it, the floor here is a real bitch to walk through—too squishy.

Hanz: What is it?

Nancy: Let me just… Yeah, it looks like it's just roots and some sort of fleshy, sticky pulp—maybe some sort of soil?

Hanz: How far in did you get?

Nancy: I don't know, maybe five rooms, still no sign of—shhh.

[Nancy begins to whisper.]

Nancy: I think I heard something.

[Nancy coughs a few times, and then resumes talking at a normal volume.]

Nancy: I don't know—I could've sworn there was something behind me, but… I guess not. I-I'm feeling a bit lightheaded.

Hanz: Do you need to come back? We can send someone—

Nancy: No, no—I'm fine, I think. I'm probably just hungry, skipped breakfast this morning.

Hanz: Just be careful—we don't need you getting lost in there too.

Nancy: …Wait.

Hanz: What is it?

Nancy: I think—I think I hear them.

Hanz: The kids?

Nancy: Yeah… Well, maybe? I can see movement, just ahead.

Hanz: Are they okay—is Victoria with them?

Nancy: No, they're just standing there.

Hanz:

Nancy: Miranda! Nate! I'm here to—

[The line goes quiet.]

Nancy: …That's not them.

Hanz: What do you mean?

Nancy: It sounded… I don't know, I thought I saw—

[She exhales shakily.]

Nancy: The flowers are breathing, Hanz—not literally, I just thought I saw something.

Hanz: Nancy, I need you to stay calm and start heading back to the exit. I called for backup. You said you were feeling lightheaded earlier and—

Nancy: No, no, I'm fine. It's just—

[She has a coughing fit, and the line goes quiet for 40 seconds.]

Nancy: It's messin' with my eyes, I don't know, maybe the lights or [she coughs] whatever the fuck's in the air.

Hanz: Yeah, that's why I'm telling you to—

Nancy: I said I'm fine…

[Brief silence.]

Nancy: …I can still hear something, I gotta find them, Hanz.

Hanz: You still there, Nancy?

Nancy: Nothing yet, [Unintelligible.]

Hanz: Come again, I couldn't hear you.

Nancy: I heard a screech, or something, it's just a bit further.

Hanz: A screech, Nancy. How far in are you now? If there are entities, you should wait for backup.

Nancy: No time, it's just around—

[Nancy begins whispering again.]

Nancy: There's a, I don't know—flower thing? It's humanoid and— Fuck—

[A child can be heard screaming in the background.]

Hanz: Nancy?

[The line is quiet for several minutes. Nancy finally responds, clearly out of breath.]

Nancy: One of them came at me, I had to act fast—I smashed it up pretty good. I got its sap or something—it's all over. I saw another one go a bit deeper—I heard the kids—it's chasing them. I can't let it get them.

Hanz: Nancy, you really should wait for—

Nancy: I can see them—I'm gonna run after, I can catch them.

Nancy: Shit, Hanz, I caught it. Hanz, I caught, Hanz. I— [Nancy vomits.] I caught—no, I said that—I smashed it. It's in the—it's the fuckin' sap or something—[Wet coughing.] One of them got away, there's just to many.

Hanz: Nancy, what is going on? Are you alright?

Nancy: I need to get out of here—it fucking poisoned me—it's in there, it's gotten in.

Hanz: What has gotten in?

Nancy: It [Unintelligible] in my head.

Hanz: Nancy?

Hanz: Come in, Nancy, are you alright? Help is almost there.

Hanz: Nancy?

[End Log]

Afterword: When the two-man security team reached the entrance, Nancy Hill was covered in blood and had collapsed in the first room. She was dry heaving and nearly catatonic; the team decided to prioritize getting Nancy medical attention.

By the time a third team arrived to continue retrieval efforts for the children, the entrance had already closed.

Over the next few days, Nancy Hill continued to experience severe delirium, acute tachycardia5, dehydration, vomiting, and ataxia6, requiring intensive medical treatment.

In order to provide adequate medical treatment, the first priority was figuring out what poisoned Nancy Hill. Testing of the substance collected from her clothing revealed the presence of pollen, as well as a high concentration of scopolamine and psilocybin. These substances account for the symptoms she exhibited, as well as the behavior observed in the subsequent review of her video recording.

All security officers in New Times Square have a helmet-mounted camera. Nancy Hill's camera revealed a far different experience than the one described through her radio transmissions—a clear indication of the altered perception caused by the aforementioned substance. Symptoms like gait irregularities began relatively fast, about 20 minutes after entering the level. During the nearly two-hour search attempt, Nancy remained in a relatively close position to the main entrance, only eight or nine rooms into the level.

While within the level, Nancy Hill did encounter the missing children and babysitter; unfortunately, due to her delirious state, she misinterpreted the individuals as threats. Using her standard-issue baton, Nancy brutalized Victoria and Miranda, both of whom appeared to also be suffering from exposure to the hallucinogenic substance. It is unlikely either survived the encounters. The last visual confirmation of Nate Ozola showed him fleeing from Nancy, deeper into the level.

Update

Level 103 root removal.

In February 2026 the entrance to Level 103 reappeared, this time in Level 3, within the M.E.G.'s Base Gamma. A detachment of Team "Blooming Blossoms" was equipped with hazmat gear and tasked with recovering material from the level before it disappeared.

The most notable discovery occurred during the process of removing a section of roots. Beneath the network of roots and biological material7 a multitude of skeletal remains were located. The true depth of this layer of bones is unknown, though the team confirmed it descends at least one and a half meters. Though a majority of these remains were human, bones belonging to Hounds, Clumps, and at least two unidentified species were also discovered.

Many samples were recovered during this excursion into Level 103. They have greatly enhanced our understanding of the level just as often as they have complicated it. Of these samples, a total of seven fully intact vines were extracted. Each sample was given different conditions and "food" in order to keep them alive, though only one was successfully transplanted.

Designated "Specimen 6", the only surviving sample was planted in the corpse of a Hound. The sample grew 26 additional stolons and offshoots, completely encapsulating the corpse in roots and covering a large portion of the wall in the supply closet it was stored in. After three months, the plants began to wilt and eventually died—leaving behind fully denuded bones. The leading hypothesis entails the species requires a consistent carnivorous diet to survive.

Traversal

There is no known permanent entrance to Level 103; the access point shifts after an undetermined period of time. All documented incursions have occurred when a wanderer enters a door that did not previously lead to the level. Notably, every reported incident has taken place in areas of increased human population. Whether this pattern is intentional or merely coincidental remains unknown.

While an entrance is active, the exit door remains stable—though the duration of this stability is uncertain. If you find yourself within Level 103, you are strongly advised to turn around and exit immediately.
